Join the festivities at the CBD Christmas Fair!

Rockhampton Regional Council is getting into the festive spirit, with preparations well underway for the annual CBD Christmas Fair, set for Saturday, 7 December 2024.

Rockhampton Region Acting Mayor Drew Wickerson shared the Council's excitement about delivering this free community event, which will take place along Quay Street and the Riverside Precinct. The Christmas Fair will feature a wide range of activities, including free arts and crafts for kids, a petting zoo, market stalls, food vendors, an outdoor cinema, amusement rides, photos with Santa, and the official lighting of the Christmas Tree.

"The CBD Christmas Fair and the lighting of the tree are among the year's most anticipated events in our community," Acting Mayor Wickerson said.

"I encourage everyone to join us at the Riverside for an evening full of fun as we celebrate the festive season together."

This year, the holiday magic starts early for the little ones. A special letterbox, straight from the North Pole, has been set up outside Customs House. Children who drop off their letters to Santa before 9 December, complete with their home address, can expect a personal reply from Santa himself before Christmas Day.

Advance Rockhampton Tourism and Events Manager, Zac Garven, noted that alongside the CBD Christmas Fair, Explore Rockhampton has launched an online hub dedicated to all things Christmas across the Rockhampton Region at www.explorerockhampton.com.au/Christmas.

"The online hub will make it easy to find all the festive events happening in our region this season," Mr Garven said.

"From a self-guided tour of Christmas lights and Carols by Candlelight to the Heritage Village Christmas Markets and local community carol events, Rockhampton is shining bright this Christmas."
