As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Update 6/30/2024 at 8:05 p.m.

  • No-Hit Shooting - 1400 Block of Chestnut - On June 30, 2024 at approximately 4:34 p.m., officers responded to the 1400 block of Chestnut Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence that a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported. Suspect information and motive for the shooting are being investigated. The investigation is ongoing.

    Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • No-Hit Shooting- 1900 block of 7th Street - On June 30, 2024 at approximately 12:31 a.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of 7th Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence that a shooting had occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates that two groups of male adult suspects had a verbal dispute when shots were fired. The suspects fled on foot before officers arrived. No injuries were reported, the investigation is ongoing.
  • Hit-Shooting- Alamitos Avenue and East 6th Street- On June 29, 2024, at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers responded to Alamitos Avenue and East 6th Street regarding a hit-shooting. Upon arrival officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body and a female adult victim with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the victims to a local hospital in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victims were standing on the sidewalk when shots were fired by a male adult suspect striking the victims. The suspect fled the scene on foot before officers arrived. No other injuries were reported. Detectives responded to the scene, the investigation is ongoing.
