At Docusign, sustainability is one of our core values, and we're committed to reducing our emissions.
In 2022, we joined the
Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)After submitting our pledge to SBTi for validation, we are pleased to announce that our near-term and net-zero targets have been officially approved. Here's a summary of our targets:
Near-Term Targets (by 2030)
50% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030(from a 2021 base year)
50% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from fuel and energy-related activities by 2030 (from a 2019 base year)
55% reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions from business travel per employee by 2030
75% of suppliers by spend to have science-based targets by 2028
Long-Term Targets (by 2050)
90% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2050 (from a 2021 base year)
90% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 2050 (from a 2019 base year)
By setting these targets, we are aligning with our customers' goals to help them reduce emissions. We aim to expand opportunities to integrate emission reductions throughout our agreements, including within our supply chain.
Sustainability at Docusign
At Docusign, we're helping our more than 1.5 million customers create more sustainable agreements by digitizing agreement processes. Together we've saved 93 billion sheets of paper (10 million trees!) and granted $3M to organizations working to protect the world's forests*. In 2024, the Docusign Foundation created a Climate Action Fund to support organizations doing meaningful work to combat climate change. Recent grantees include:
Wildlife Conservation Society: WCS is a key driver of the 30x30 initiative. the world's largest commitment to conservation - with a target of protecting at least 30% of land and sea worldwide by 2030.
Forest Stewardship Council: FSC promotes responsible management of the world's forests and has grown to become the world's most respected and widespread forest certification system.
SUGi: Docusign funded the creation of the Seattle Unity Forest.
With strategic investment in high-quality REDD+ and Verra-verified carbon offset projects focused on preventing deforestation and supporting reforestation, Docusign has been certified Carbon Neutral since 2022.
