Olympia 2045 - Transportation

Share your thoughts on the second draft of the Comprehensive Plan Transportation Chapter

City staff have published a second draft of the Transportation Chapter of the Comprehensive Plan update on Engage Olympia. This draft reflects the feedback we heard in June about the first draft.

If you have any thoughts about the second draft, please share them in the short survey on Engage Olympia. The survey closes September 27th.

Some of the changes in this second draft include:
  • Adding language to consider studying several topics and prioritizing them in the Transportation Master Plan update that will happen between 2027 and 2029.
  • Those topics include converting 4th and State Avenues to two-way streets, not allowing any streets wider than three lanes, and considering closing some neighborhood and downtown streets to vehicle traffic.
  • We also added language to consider the impacts of building new pedestrian and bicycle-only pathways rather than full streets when we study street connections after this plan is updated.
Thanks to everyone who shared their thoughts about the first draft. We hope to hear what you think about the second draft!
