Meeting with European Commission representatives on EU Global Gateway strategy

Meeting with European Commission representatives on EU Global Gateway strategy

02.07.2024

During the visit, delegations from the Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) and the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) met with representatives of the MFA, other ministries, the private sector, think tanks, and non-governmental organisations.

The initiative's objective was to present the strategy's aims and funding possibilities to different groups in Poland, including the government administration and the private sector. Increased engagement in the implementation of Global Gateway projects can bring Polish businesses tangible benefits.

Additionally, as part of the European Commission representatives' visit to Warsaw, the Polish Institute of International Affairs hosted a debate on the strategy's future with the participation of Director Luc Bagur, representing the DG INTPA, and Polish experts.

"Global Gateway" is the European Union's strategy initiated in 2021. Its purpose is to ensure the EU's contribution to minimising the global investment gap as well as to provide local communities with lasting benefits, taking into account partner countries' needs. Global Gateway covers not only investments in the digital, energy, and transport sectors, but also protection of health, education, and scientific research worldwide.

Current Global Gateway projects are being carried out in Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Asia, the Pacific region, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
