With CABEI collaboration, Panama inaugurates La Chorrera viaduct and strengthens its road infrastructure

Panama City, September 3, 2024 - Today, Panama celebrates a new infrastructure achievement. The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is pleased to announce the official opening of the La Chorrera viaduct, a key work of the Beach Corridor Project on the Pan-American Highway. This 1.72-kilometer viaduct significantly improves connectivity between the capital and the country's interior, benefiting 2.5 million Panamanians by reducing travel times and strengthening road safety on one of Panama's busiest routes.

Designed with the highest engineering standards, the new viaduct will not only speed up vehicular traffic but will also boost the region's economic development and logistical dynamism. With this project, Panama reaffirms its commitment to modernizing its road infrastructure and improving the quality of life of its citizens.

"Seeing this project come to completion fills us with satisfaction, because we know that we are not only improving road connectivity and safety, but also contributing to Panama's economic and social growth. This viaduct is an important step for everyone, as it will generate employment, boost the local economy, and help thousands of Panamanians improve their quality of life," commented Gisela Sánchez, CABEI's Executive President.

In addition to the viaduct, the project includes the rehabilitation of 4.42 kilometers of the existing road from the La Chorrera highway to Hacienda Los Calderones, which represents an important advance in the country's road infrastructure. Its completion is expected to be aligned with the terms stipulated for the end of the first semester of 2025.

The Beach Corridor Project, promoted by CABEI, is a strategic initiative that responds to the needs of a constantly growing population, ensuring an efficient flow of people and goods between the capital and the country's interior.
