WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced a new $1 million investment in the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express airport to recruit a major airline to provide service to a large hub airport. The investment will allow Toledo Express Airport to develop a marketing plan to recruit a major airline and offer a limited revenue guarantee to a carrier that initiates service.
"Toledo Express Airport is vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state," said Brown. "This investment will help bring service from a major airline to Toledo, bringing back service that the Toledo region deserves - and improving travel for Ohioans."
The Department of Transportation's Office of the Secretary of Transportation awarded this investment to the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority to carry out this project under the Small Community Air Service Development Program. The award was made possible through the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, which Brown helped write and pass.
