DELAWARE, Ohio - Ohio Wesleyan University today announced its January 2025 lineup of public events. Unless otherwise noted, admission is free.
1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 11: OWU Chamber Music Invitational, directed by part-time instructor Deborah Price, in Jemison Auditorium inside Sanborn Hall, 23 Elizabeth St., Delaware. Admission is free. For more information, visit owu.edu/PerformingArts.
Ross Art Museum
10 a.m. Jan. 20: The 32nd annual MLK Celebration, in the Benes Rooms of Ohio Wesleyan's Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave., Delaware. Doors will open at 9:45 a.m. for the event themed "Growing Towards Justice: From Root to Fruit." The keynote speaker is Valerie Lee, Ph.D., a retired English professor at The Ohio State University and the author of "Sisterlocking Discoarse: Race, Gender, and the Twenty-First-Century Academy." The event will include breakfast and a performance by the Columbus Adventist Academy Children's Choir, directed by Tamaria Kulameka. Individual tickets are $35 and event sponsorships are $260 for a table of eight. Tickets will be available for purchase online until Jan. 10. 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28: Ohio Wesleyan's 2025 Economic Outlook Conference, featuring a panel of experts discussing their forecasts for the regional, national, and international economies, in Benes Room B of Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave., Delaware. Each expert will speak for 15 minutes and then respond to questions from the audience and panel moderator Goran Skosples, Ph.D., associate professor of economics. The panelists are Joyce Chen, Ph.D., a development economist and professor of Economics in Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies at The Ohio State University; Fadhel Kaboub, Ph.D., an associate professor of economics at Denison University and the president of the Global Institute for Sustainable Prosperity; and Mark Schweitzer, Ph.D., a research associate professor at the Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western Reserve University and an economist emeritus in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. 8 p.m. Jan. 31: Friday guest nights, at Perkins Observatory, 3199 Columbus Pike (U.S. 23), Delaware. Content varies based on weather conditions, but may include a planetarium show, observatory tours, and stargazing with the 32-inch Schottland Telescope.
