USDA Designates Two Texas Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas Due to Flooding, Excessive Rain, and Flash Flood

This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation, or to refinance certain debts. FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability.

Impacted Area: Texas

Triggering Disaster: Flooding and Excessive Rain occurring March 11, 2024, and continuing.

Application Deadline: March 10, 2025

Primary Counties Eligible: Hunt

Contiguous Counties Also Eligible: Collin, Delta, Fannin, Hopkins, Kaufman, Rains, Rockwall, and Van Zandt

Triggering Disaster 2: Flooding, Excessive Rain, and Flash Flood occurring May 4, 2024, through May 5, 2024.

Application Deadline: March 10, 2025

Primary Counties Eligible: Lampasas

Contiguous Counties Also Eligible: Bell, Burnet, Coryell, Hamilton, Mills, and San Saba
