No. 4 Lakers travel to Michigan Tech

With the NCAA Division II playoffs looming, Grand Valley will close out its regular season schedule with a pair of games on the road.

In the first of the two away games, the Lakers head to Houghton for a matchup against Michigan Tech at noon on November 9 at the Huskies' Kearly Stadium.

Following its Homecoming win over Wayne State, Grand Valley (8-1 overall, 4-1 GLIAC) shares second place in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with Saginaw Valley.

This week, the NCAA's first Division II regional rankings for the playoffs were released, placing the Lakers at No. 2 in Super Region 3, behind Ferris State.

Grand Valley bounced back from its loss to Ferris State two weeks ago with a commanding 51-28 win over Wayne State. In his first career start, sophomore quarterback Vinnie Meschi led the Lakers to a dominating first half.

Grand Valley jumped out to a 37-0 lead by halftime with Meschi throwing for 200 yards and two touchdowns. For his performance, Meschi earned the GLIAC's Offensive Player of the Week.
