The City of Sacramento is relaunching its popular Shop 916 gift card promotion, making it easy for residents to support local businesses during the holiday season. From Nov. 15, 2024 through Feb. 15, 2025, shoppers can enjoy bonus spending when purchasing Shop 916 gift cards-ideal for holiday gifting or treating oneself.

"With over 120 Sacramento businesses now participating, this gift card is the perfect way to check off your holiday gift list while supporting our local economy," said Valerie Mamone-Werder, the City's project development manager responsible for the program. "More local businesses can still join, and we're excited to see Sacramento residents shopping and gifting with local pride."

Promotion details:

• Buy a $25 gift card, get a $10 bonus card
• Buy a $50 gift card, get a $25 bonus card
• Buy a $100 gift card, get a $50 bonus card

The offer is valid from Nov. 15, 2024 through Feb. 15, 2025. Bonus cards expire on March 31, 2025. Shoppers can purchase their cards at shop916local.com.

Since the program's launch in 2021, $796,000 in Shop 916 gift and bonus cards have been sold and over 12,000 gift cards have been sold.

The City of Sacramento funds the program through American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds dedicated to supporting small businesses in their recovery from the pandemic.

Volume discount program

For larger groups, Shop 916 offers a volume discount program on purchases of $1,000 or more, ideal for employee rewards or holiday incentives, which waives card fees (current promotion does not apply to bulk purchases).

Free to sign up for local businesses

All local storefront retailers located in the city can participate. The program is open to all businesses within the city of Sacramento that have 500 or fewer full-time equivalent employees, with the exception of home-based businesses, franchises, liquor-only stores and cannabis businesses.
