Public Works' Week in Review for August 29, 2024

The Public Works Department is made up of various sub-departments including Fleet, Line Repair, Streets/Stormwater and Traffic, Wastewater, and Water. Each week, over 100 employees are responsible for the maintenance, monitoring, and improvement of existing and new infrastructure across League City which includes everything from roadways and traffic lights to storm drains, sewers, and water production.

Below are some tips and projects they are working on:

Fuel Pump Replacement

Wastewater's flatbed truck was experiencing a running problem. After towing the unit to our shop, we discovered it had a fuel pump issue. We placed the pump and have it back on the road.

Wooly Aphids:

  • Fluffy white aphids
  • Produce cotton-like webbing that resembles snow when it falls from the trees; if it's "snowing" in your yard, it's probably Wooly Aphids
  • Like traditional aphids, they have sucking mouthparts that they use to feed on juices of trees and plants
