FedEx Offers Same-day Delivery Service for Fresh Fruits from Korea to Hong Kong

Hong Kong SAR, July 2, 2024 - Federal Express Corporation, one of the world's largest express transportation companies, is providing same-day delivery service for fresh fruits from Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea to Hong Kong. This will provide access for local Hong Kong consumers to receive high-quality farm-to-table seasonal Korean products.

With a comprehensive intra-Asia air network, FedEx offers same-day delivery service through existing flights from Incheon to Hong Kong, operating four times a week. A cold chain facility at the FedEx Incheon Gateway will be used to preserve the quality and freshness of these temperature-sensitive shipments prior to transit. Upon arrival at the FedEx Hong Kong Gateway, these shipments will be unloaded from the aircraft and directly delivered to customers in downtown.

Comparing the first quarter of 2024 to 2023, a year-over-year increase of 6.9% was recorded in the value of imports in Hong Kong, resulting in a total of U.S. $196 million[1]. Government data showed these imports came from major suppliers, in particular Korea, Vietnam, the U.S., Thailand, Singapore, and mainland China[2].

"At FedEx, we are committed to leveraging our robust intra-Asia network to better serve our local customers," said Anthony Leung, managing director of FedEx Hong Kong and Macau. "We play a key role in facilitating trade and commerce between Hong Kong and other markets. Through our innovative solutions and advanced digital tools, we have the capability to transport a variety of products with unique features, including fresh fruits, electronics, automotive, healthcare products, and e-commerce shipments."

FedEx continues to transform its global network to meet the evolving needs of its customers. Earlier this year, FedEx launched its Less-than-Container Load (LCL) Priority service, a customs-cleared port-to-door and door-to-door solution that connects the Asia Pacific with key Middle East markets through an integrated ocean and road network. In addition, FedEx has been accredited as an Authorized Economic Tier 2 Operator (AEO)in Hong Kong since 2014, allowing the company to utilize incentives including reduced inspections and prioritized customs clearance.
