Subway service changes: September 6-9, 2024

Happy Friday, and welcome to the first weekend of the school year-now featuring Student OMNY Cards! This Sunday is also the New York Transit Museum's 2024 Bus Festival in Brooklyn Bridge Park, where you can explore the museum's vintage bus fleet, representing 90 years of New York City transit history. We hope to see you there!

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  • trains aren't running between 3 Av-149 St and 135 St.
  • trains aren't running at all.
  • trains aren't running between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.
  • ​ ​trains are running on the ​ between W 4 St-Washington Sq and Jay St-MetroTech.
  • trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  • trains aren't running between Broadway Junction and Marcy Av.
  • trains aren't running at all.

Major subway service changes

trains, the Bronx and Manhattan

trains aren't running between 3 Av-149 St and 135 St from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Wakefield-241 St and 3 Av-149 St, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
    • Between Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College and 135 St and on the to/from Harlem-148 St, skipping 145 St in both directions.
  • For service between 3 Av-149 St and 135 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running on three routes:
    • Nonstop between 3 Av-149 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.
    • Nonstop between 149 St-Grand Concourse and 135 St.
    • Nonstop between 3 Av-149 St and 135 St.
  • At 3 Av-149 St, all trains are boarding at the Manhattan-bound platform.

trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

trains aren't running from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service between Harlem-148 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, take the .
    • trains are running on the between Harlem-148 St and 135 St, skipping 145 St in both directions.
    • For service to 145 St, take the M7 or M102 during the day and evening or free shuttle buses overnight.
  • For service between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College, take trains.
    • trains are making local stops between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College all weekend.
  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av, take the , which is running to New Lots Av all weekend.
  • 42 St Shuttle trains are running all weekend, including overnight.

trains, the Bronx

trains aren't running between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse all day Saturday and Sunday because of track replacement.

  • trains are running in two sections:
    • Between E 180 St and Eastchester-Dyre Av, all weekend.
    • Between 149 St-Grand Concourse and Bowling Green, every 20 minutes.
  • For service between E 180 St and 3 Av-149 St, take the .
  • For service between 3 Av-149 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse, take free shuttle buses.
  • 149 St-bound trains aren't stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse. For service to/from this station, take the .

trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

trains are running on the between W 4 St-Washington Sq and Jay St-MetroTech in both directions from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of electrical improvement work.

  • For service to/from Spring St, Canal St, and Chambers St/World Trade Center, take the .
  • For service to Fulton St, take the or use nearby World Trade Center .
  • For service to/from High St, use nearby York St .

trains, Brooklyn

trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization work.

  • For service between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av take free B90shuttle buses, which are making all stops.
    • When exiting the subway at Church Av or Coney Island-Stillwell Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For direct service between Manhattan/Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take ​​​trains.
  • For service to W 8 St-NY Aquarium, take the ​.
  • trains are running between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.

trains, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens

From 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, trains aren't running between Broadway Junction and Marcy Av and trains aren't running.

  • trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Broadway Junction.
    • Between Marcy Av and Broad St.
  • For service between Broadway Junction and Marcy Av, take free shuttle buses, which are making all stops.
  • For service between Marcy Av and Delancey St-Essex St, take the .
  • For direct service to/from Manhattan, take trains at Broadway Junction or Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
  • When exiting the subway at Broadway Junction, Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, or Marcy Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.

Other subway service changes

trains, Manhattan

Uptown and local trains are making express stops from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a downtown local train.
  • During the day and evening, trains are running every 8 minutes while trains share a track in Manhattan.

trains, Brooklyn

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Euclid Av-bound and Queens-bound local trains aren't stopping at Ralph Av and Rockaway Av because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound local train.

trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound trains aren't stopping at 182-183 Sts from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from these stations, take a Norwood-bound train.

trains, Queens

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound and local trains aren't stopping from Forest Hills-71 Av to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Forest Hills-bound , Jamaica Center-bound local, or Jamaica-bound local train.

trains, Brooklyn

From 11:45 p.m Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Bay Ridge-bound and Coney Island-bound local trains are making express stops from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 59 St because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from Union St, 4 Av-9 St, Prospect Av, and 25 St, take the , which is running local all weekend.
  • For service to/from 45 St and 53 St, take a Manhattan-bound local train.
