Texas Center for the Book Invites All Ages to Oct. 14 “Spooky Storytime at the Texas State Library” with Bernadette Nason

Austin, TX - The Texas Center for the Book has announced that it will host a Spooky Storytime at the Texas State Library, featuring award-winning storyteller Bernadette Nason, on Monday, Oct. 14. This free event is for all ages and will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Public Event Space at the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building, 1201 Brazos St. in Austin, next door to the Texas Capitol. After the storytime, attendees are invited to join a free, all-ages "RIP Tour of the Texas Capitol" led by the Capitol Information and Guide Services Office. Participants will hear haunted legends and eerie historical tales about Capitol building.

"With no school that day, it's the ideal opportunity to enjoy spine-chilling tales in a fun and family-friendly environment," said the Center's Coordinator, Michele Chan Santos. "Come for the stories, stay for the scares-it's sure to be a day you won't forget!"

Award-winning English storyteller/author/actor Bernadette Nason has been a Texas Commission on the Arts touring artist since 2002. She visits schools, libraries, museums, camps, conferences and festivals throughout the U.S. with multicultural tales, personal stories and a variety of workshops. Bernadette appears often in regional theater and is a company member of Austin Playhouse. She'll soon be seen as "Miss Marple" in A Murder is Announced at The Vortex Theatre. She's written two critically acclaimed memoirs, but she's probably most famous for appearing in the movie Miss Congeniality. More information can be found on her website, www.bernadettenason.com.
