COMMUNITY DIALOGUE #2

Thank you to everyone who participated in the SECOND public community dialogue on Sept. 10, 2024 regarding the update to the 2025 Comprehensive Plan. A presentation kicked off the evening, followed by an activity where participants determined where the city can accommodate places the community would like to see in Lakeway. This will support the development of vision plan sites that will demonstrate how the city can apply the goals of this plan to a development or redevelopment site. Thank you to all those who attended the first public meeting for the 2025 Lakeway Comprehensive Plan Update on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Lakeway City Hall. If you missed that meeting or would like to review some of the materials, please check out some of the links below:

As of early 2024, a Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee is currently in place to help adapt the next version of Lakeway's Comprehensive Plan. Please review some of the material below for information on the 2020 Comprehensive Plan, along with a list of our current committee members.

2020 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

The 2020 Comprehensive Plan (Plan) was approved by City Council in March 2020. This Comprehensive Plan outlines the vision of our community during the next 20 years. The recommendations in this document should be used to guide City leaders in decisions regarding community identity, environment, land use, transportation strategies, infrastructure, community recreational and cultural programs, community facilities and parks, business and economic development, and finally principles for working cooperatively with our neighbors with a commitment to long-term planning. Landowners, developers, agencies, and appointed and/or elected officials should recognize the significance of this Plan. The degree to which the Plan is followed will, in large part, determine the degree to which the stated vision will become reality.

Developing the 2020 Comprehensive Plan

Thanks to all the Lakeway citizens who provided input to the Comprehensive Plan at the May 16, 2019 Town Hall and who completed the plan survey that year. We collected 974 responses to the 2019 Comprehensive Plan survey and received more than 2,700 comments. That feedback was used in the development of the 2020 Plan, which was formalized in March of 2020.
