City moves forward on Winchester Road widening project

The City is taking steps toward completing the final phase of the Winchester Road widening project with approval of an updated surveying and design contract with TTL.

The $245,110 contract will update final plans and tract maps to reflect current conditions on the site for construction, consisting of 2.3 miles of a new five-lane roadway between Dominion Circle and Naugher Road.

The scope of work in the TTL contract:

• Update the right of way map and legal land descriptions for acquisition
• Provides changes to topography and drainage resulting from new developments along the corridor
• Ensure plans reflect current specifications set by the Alabama Department of Transportation in accordance with funding requirements

Pending the completion of right of way acquisition, construction is anticipated to begin in summer 2025 for this remaining section. Once complete, Winchester Road will be five lanes for approximately 9 miles from Pulaski Pike to Bell Factory Road.
