Citizens encouraged to apply for Boards, Commissions and Committee appointments

Applications due by Aug. 23

KILLEEN, Texas (July 19, 2024) - The City of Killeen has more 22 boards, commissions and committees and is encouraging citizens to apply to serve by using our online application process.

The deadline to apply for vacant positions on any of the boards is Friday, Aug. 23 and citizens can view current and upcoming vacancies and apply at www.KilleenTexas.gov/Boards.

Killeen residents have the opportunity to serve the community as members, each with unique duties, memberships, qualifications and terms. Some boards meet regularly while some meet intermittently. Residents will apply to volunteer their time, energy, expertise and insight to help keep our community a great place to live, thrive and flourish.

Some board positions include the Animal Advisory Committee, Arts Commission, Audit Committee, Community Development Advisory Committee, Civil Service Commission, Planning and Zoning Commission, Police Academy Advisory Board, Senior Citizens Advisory Board, Youth Advisory Commission and Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

Appointments are made each September for terms beginning Oct. 1 through Sept. 30. Applications not selected remain on file for consideration as vacancies occur.

A complete list of all boards, commissions and committees with descriptions is available at www.KilleenTexas.gov/Boards. The new system allows citizens to explore the number of vacancies, term limits and in-depth descriptions. Volunteers will work in an advisory capacity to City Council throughout the year.
