Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Stabbing - 1100 Block of Anaheim Street: On July 4, 2024 at approximately 6:47 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Anaheim Street regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim with multiple non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition. Preliminary investigation indicates the female adult victim was involved in a verbal dispute with a female adult suspect which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled the area prior to officers' arrival. Suspect information and motive for the stabbing are under investigation.
  • Stabbing - 1100 Block of 2nd Street: On July 4, 2024 at approximately 11:49 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of 2nd Street regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in a verbal dispute with a female adult suspect which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect was identified as Jaylene Dominguez, a 20-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked for assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $30,000. The investigation is ongoing.
  • Hit-Shooting - 400 block of East Morningside Street: On July 5, 2024 at approximately 2:58 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of East Morningside Street regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported her to a local hospital in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates an unknown suspect discharged a firearm in the direction of the victim's residence and the victim was struck by gun fire. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers' arrival. Suspect information and motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
  • Homicide - 1000 block of Stanley Avenue: Homicide detectives are investigating a murder that occurred on July 4, 2024, in the 1000 block of Stanley Avenue. A news release can be found here.
Great job officers! Last night officers safely took a gun off the streets.
  • On July 4, 2024 at approximately 8:43 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Coronado Avenue regarding a single vehicle traffic collision. During their investigation officers recovered a firearm. A suspect was arrested. The investigation is ongoing
