Gov. Beshear Makes Appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky.(Aug. 9, 2024) - Gov. Andy Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Holly Bloodworth, Sharon Robinson, Lu Settles Young and Stephen Allen Trimble to the Kentucky Board of Education for terms expiring April 14, 2028. Additionally, the Governor has appointed Juston Pate, Paul Long and Stephen Borchers to the Board for terms expiring April 14, 2028.

  • Holly Bloodworth of Murray is an instructor at Murray State University. She represents the 1st Supreme Court District as a member of the Board.
  • Sharon Robinson of Louisville is a retired educator. She represents the 4th Supreme Court District as a member of the Board.
  • Lu Settles Young of Nicholasville is an associate professor at the University of Kentucky. She represents the 5th Supreme Court District as a member of the Board.
  • Stephen Allen Trimble of Van Lear is a retired educator. He represents the 7th Supreme Court District as a member of the Board.
  • Juston Pate of Elizabethtown is the President and CEO of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. He represents the 2nd Supreme Court District as a member of the Board and replaces June McCrary, whose term has expired.
  • Paul Long of Stanford is an attorney. He represents the 3rd Supreme Court District and replaces Jamie Bowling, whose term has expired.
  • Michael Borchers of Covington is a retired public-school superintendent. He represents the 6th Supreme Court District and replaces JoAnn Adams, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Kenton Bottoms as Magistrate for the 3rd District of Anderson County. He will serve subject to the provisions of Section 152 of the Constitution of Kentucky.

  • Kenton Bottoms of Lawrenceburg is a former public servant and currently serves as secretary of the 10th/11th Region Policy Board of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. He replaces Juretta Wells, who has retired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Lori McKeehan as a member of the Education Professional Standards Board.

  • Lori McKeehan of Gray is a teacher at Knox County Public Schools. She represents elementary school teachers as a member of the Board and replaces Sarah Weedman, who has resigned. McKeehan will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term expiring June 30, 2026.

Gov. Beshear has appointed William Duff, Dr. Lawrence Tenkman and Justin Morris to the Kentucky Board of Ophthalmic Dispensers.

  • William Duff of Lexington is an ophthalmic dispenser at Tinder Krauss Tinder. He represents licensed ophthalmic dispensers as a member of the Board and replaces Mary Froelicher, who resigned and whose term subsequently expired. Duff will serve for a term expiring Aug. 5, 2028.
  • Dr. Lawrence Tenkman of Louisville is an ophthalmologist at Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers. He represents medical physicians as a member of the Board and replaces Dr. Todd Purkiss, who resigned and whose term subsequently expired. Tenkman will serve for a term expiring Aug. 5, 2028.
  • Justin Morris of Lexington is the project manager at Seneca Holdings. He represents citizens at large as a member of the Board and replaces Jerry Evans, who has resigned. Morris will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term expiring Jan. 10, 2025.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Vivek Swaminathan and Dr. Scott Hedges to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Advisory Committee to serve for terms expiring Nov. 14, 2026.

  • Vivek Swaminathan of Louisville is a pharmacist at Areva Pharmaceuticals and continues to represent pharmacists as a member of the Committee.
  • Dr. Scott Hedges of Louisville is a psychiatrist at Seven Counties Services and continues to represent community mental health psychiatrists as a member of the Committee.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed John Bissell Roberts to the Crime Victims Compensation Board to serve for a term expiring July 1, 2028.

  • Bissell Roberts of Prospect is an attorney at Bardenwerper, Talbott & Roberts PLLC. He continues to represent attorneys as a member of the Board.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Dr. Thomas Childress, Dr. Paul Krestik and Neil Lively to the State Board of Podiatry to serve for terms expiring June 29, 2028.

  • Dr. Thomas Childress of Louisville is a podiatrist at Norton Healthcare. He continues to represent the Kentucky Podiatric Medical Association as a member of the Board.
  • Dr. Paul Krestik of Lexington is a podiatrist at Bluegrass Regional Foot & Ankle Associates. He continues to represent the Kentucky Podiatric Medical Association as a member of the Board.
  • Neil Lively of Louisville is a housing manager. He continues to represent citizens at large as a member of the Board.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Jai Bokey, Rita Combs-Strerrett, John York Kuzoka and Jim Dodds to the Bluegrass State Skills Corporation Board of Directors to serve for terms expiring July 4, 2028.

  • Jai Bokey of Prospect is the vice president of operations at V-Soft Consulting Group. He will continue to serve as chair of the Bluegrass State Skills Corporation Board of Directors.
  • Rita Combs-Strerrett of Louisville is a retired insurance agent and CEO.
  • John York Kuzoka of Louisville is a retired tradesman.
  • Jim Dodds of Franklin is a contractor for DKL.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Nick Bhatt to the Board of Directors of the Louisville Arena Authority Inc.

  • Nick Bhatt of Louisville is the owner of long-term care health care projects, including Freedom Adult Day Healthcare & Home Care. He replaces J. Michael Brown, who is deceased, and will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term expiring Jan. 31, 2027.
