Kuster, Shaheen, Hassan Applaud $1.7 Million Headed to Peterborough Company to Develop Low-Cost, Energy-Efficient Residential Heat Pumps

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Representative Annie Kuster (NH-02), alongside U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH), applauded $1.7 million headed to Evari, Inc., in Peterborough from the U.S. Department of Energy's Buildings Energy Efficiency Frontiers and Innovation Technologies (BENEFIT) grant program. The funding will help the company research and develop low-cost, miniature residential cold climate heat pumps that will help Granite State homeowners and businesses save money on energy costs.

"Improving energy efficiency in our homes and businesses helps lower costs and plays a critical role in meeting our clean energy goals," said Congresswoman Kuster. "I'm thrilled to welcome these resources heading to Evari in Peterborough to develop advanced heat pump technologies that will help lower energy bills for families and businesses while reducing carbon emissions-a win-win!"

"Installing low-cost, energy-efficient technologies in homes and businesses can reduce costs and help us reach our climate goals," said Senator Shaheen. "I'm delighted to see federal funding headed to a New Hampshire business to continue its research and development of innovative heat pump technology that will save Granite Staters money on their energy bills all while reducing carbon emissions and building a more resilient electric grid."

The New Hampshire Congressional delegation has championed work to secure federal investments in clean energy and energy efficiency initiatives and to lower energy costs across New Hampshire. Earlier this year, the delegation celebrated $43,510,000 in federal funding from the Inflation Reduction Act's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund's Solar for All grant program and $499,120 from U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development for Clean Energy NH and Plymouth Area Energy Initiative.
