The general election is November 5, 2024. Linn County encourages all eligible voters to participate.
Register to Vote
Iowa allows same-day voter registration for eligible voters. To register on Election Day, you must go to your correct polling location and you must bring proof of ID and proof of residence with you. Information on acceptable proof of ID and acceptable proof of residence is available on Linn County's website.
Find Your Election Day Polling Location
You can find your polling location by using the Linn County Election Lookup tool. Many precincts and polling places changed in January 2022 due to statewide redistricting. The Linn County Auditor's Office mailed polling place change notices on October 19, 2024.
Bring Your ID
Iowa law requires an approved ID to vote in elections. View a list of valid forms of ID.
Polling Location Hours
Linn County polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. on Election Day. If you are in line by 8 p.m., you can vote, even if you do not reach the front of the line until after 8 p.m.
Absentee Ballots
If you requested an absentee ballot by mail, please ensure your completed ballot is received in the Linn County Elections Office by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Postmarks do not count.
