Department of Streets Announces Closure of 3000 Block of Clifford Street to Through-Traffic for Montgomery Avenue Bridge Over Amtrak Project

Closure to take effect on July 8, 2024

PHILADELPHIA - Department of Streets Commissioner Kristin Del Rossi announced today that the 3000 block of Clifford Street will be closed to through-traffic for full-depth roadway construction activities taking place on Montgomery Avenue. Clifford Street will remain open to local traffic only via 31st Street. Closure is expected to begin at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, and be in effect until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12.

This operation involves full-depth reconstruction of Montgomery Avenue to 31st Street as part of the Montgomery Avenue Bridge Reconstruction Project, that has been in construction phase since February 2022. This work will be performed by the contractor, Buckley & Company, of Philadelphia. The value of the overall bridge reconstruction project is $17.2M and is being funded using Federal (80%) and State (15%) grants, along with City Capital Funds (5%).
