Crime Map and Updates

Welcome to our crimemap. You can search by address, date range, case number, or specific crime type. The map includes serious felony crimes, vehicle prowls, thefts (except shoplifting), and arrests beginning in Nov. 2020. Click on icons for more detail. Addresses listed are rounded to the hundred block. For a complete list of case reports, visit olympiawa.gov/p2c.

Notable Trends

  • Five aggravated assaults reported with two still open investigations. We typically do not comment on open investigations as officers and/or detectives follow up on leads. In one case, officers arrested one suspect who strangled the victim. In another case, officers responded to a call where two victims had multiple lacerations but did not want to provide any information about what happened. In the last case, officers arrested a suspect who stabbed his parents multiple times after an argument. Officers used the battering ram to enter the residence due to exigent circumstances, detained the suspect and provided life saving measures to the victims until medics arrived.
  • One rape reported that is an open investigation. The victim did not know the suspect.
  • Twelve vehicle prowls reported for the week with one still an open investigation and an arrest in one. In the arrest, the victim saw the suspect in their car as they walked up to it and detained the suspect until officers arrived. Some of the victim's property was recovered on the suspect, along with tools typically used in vehicle prowls. Property belonging to another victim was also recovered. Multiple backpacks, laptops, wallets, purses and sunglasses were stolen in the other vehicle prowls.
  • Three residential burglaries reported with an arrest in one and chargers referred in the other. One case was a garage burglary, and no suspect was identified. The other two were violations of no contact orders. In one case, the protected party was also arrested after she placed a call for a fake disturbance with a gun at a different location.

Other Items

  • Detectives located and arrested the suspect from one of last week's open investigations where the suspect lit the victim on fire. He's being charged with Assault 1st, Arson 1st and Attempted Homicide 2nd.
  • Officers responded to 986 calls for service this week.
  • October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. If you or someone you know are not safe at home, you can call the local Safe Place 24-Hour Helpline at 360.754.6300 or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1.800.700.SAFE (7233) for help. Translation services are available. There are also numerous resources for help available on both websites.
  • In this week's photo, Sgt. Theis took the Sergeant oath for his promotion. As an officer, Sgt. Theis served in multiple specialties including Walking Patrol, Neighborhood Policing and Detectives. He was our Drug Recognition Expert, trained new officers and is still an instructor for our EVOC team. Congratulations Sgt. Theis!
