At its November 18 meeting, Troy City Council approved new contracts with employees included in the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF), finalizing this year's negotiation process with employee unions. City Council previously approved new contracts with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
These new bargaining contracts will replace agreements expiring at the end of 2024. They will remain in place through 2027, providing long-term stability for various City functions.
Mayor Robin Oda said, "We appreciate the partnership of our labor organizations throughout this process and are glad to have new contracts that are fair for both employees and taxpayers."
The IAFF agreement covers EMT/Firefighters, Paramedic/Firefighters, Lieutenants, and Platoon Commanders. The FOP agreements cover Police Officers, Sergeants, and Captains. The AFSCME agreements cover many employees of the Cemetery, Electrical, Park, Refuse, Street, Wastewater Treatment, Utilities, and Water Treatment divisions and departments, as well as some employees of Miami Shores Golf Course.
