Operation Hard Hat detail in Hamilton County

On August 28, 2024, New York State Police issued 58 tickets in Hamilton County during an "Operation Hard Hat" detail

On August 28, 2024, Troopers monitored traffic on State Route 30 in the town of Indian Lake while road crews were conducting road work. During the detail, Troopers blend in with the workers and watch for unsafe behavior.

58 tickets were issued:

Speeds -10
Cell Phones - 5
Seat Belts - 20
Other Moving - 9
Other Non-Moving - 14
Total - 58

Five commercial vehicle inspections were completed resulting in 7 violations.

Motorists are reminded to drive responsibly in work zones. Make sure to follow the postage signage and put down any distractions. Slow down, and move over to another lane when it is safe to do so. Everyone working on the side of the roadways deserves to get back home safely.
