Barrasso for Daily Caller: A Unified GOP Is The Only Way To Get Our Country Back On Track

Republicans are ready to regain the Senate majority. To truly get America back on track, we need unified Republican government. That means the House, the Senate and the White House.

The next Congress and administration will face urgent problems. A new Republican-led government will inherit from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris 20 percent higher prices, 10.3 million more illegal immigrants and a more dangerous world.

Unified Republican government would mean we do what the American people want: Fix everything Biden and Harris broke.

What would a successful, unified Republican government look like?

It would begin before President Trump takes office. As soon as possible, the Senate will start holding hearings for the Cabinet and other officials. In 2017, we saw unprecedented obstruction by Democrats of President Trump's nominees. This must not happen again.

The new Republican-led government will inherit a dangerous world. President Trump must be able to act with urgency.

The first thing the President can do is overturn the 94 dangerous Biden-Harris executive actions that opened our southern border to the world. With these executive actions overturned, our Border Patrol agents would have renewed ability and support to enforce our immigration laws.

Congress would also help President Trump overturn punishing, political regulations that are crushing American workers. With unified government, Republicans can use the Congressional Review Act to slash midnight regulations adopted in the final months of the Biden-Harris administration. Overturning political regulations under the Congressional Review Act requires a simple majority vote from the Senate and the House as well as the President's signature.

There is also an opportunity to repeal wasteful Washington spending that caused record inflation. For example, Republicans will cut billions of dollars that Vice President Harris wants to use to hire an army of 87,000 new IRS employees to harass Americans. We will rescind unspent emergency COVID money.

Additionally, Republicans will work to repeal the onerous natural gas tax in the Democrats' reckless tax and spending spree. This tax makes it more expensive for Americans to heat their homes.

Republicans will push back against bad policies from the current administration. We will also enact the policy agenda that Americans voted for.

Economically, we will pass pro-family, pro-growth tax policies. Americans should not face the threat of higher taxes after four years of record-high prices.

Republicans will unleash American energy. The first step is to pass permitting reform that makes it easier to produce affordable, available, reliable American energy. We will overturn the Biden-Harris freeze on American natural gas exports to our allies. America and the world should not rely on countries like Russia or Venezuela to keep the lights on.

At the border, we will bring back President Trump's successful border security policies. That means ending the financial incentives driving illegal immigration, restoring Remain in Mexico, finishing the border wall and deporting criminal illegal immigrants.

On the world stage, Republicans in Congress will work with President Trump to restore peace through strength. We will codify President Trump's successful Maximum Pressure Policy against Iran. We will stand up to Communist China, fund our military and end the woke policies that are causing recruitment to crater. A stronger America is a safer America.

During President Trump's first term, Republicans passed middle-class tax cuts, created 7 million jobs, grew paychecks, slashed regulatory red tape and confirmed pro-Constitution judges to the Supreme Court and judiciary.

Unified Republican government laid the groundwork for the incredible prosperity and economic growth of the Trump era. Middle class families saw incomes rise by nearly $6,000. As paychecks rose, prices were in check. Poverty fell at record rates. America was energy dominant, and energy prices were affordable. Americans' lives were better.

Unified Republican government in 2025 offers a chance to return to affordability, prosperity and safety for the American people.
