Concordia University Texas Announces 2025 Hall of Fame Class

AUSTIN, Texas - Concordia University Texas Athletics will induct four new members into its prestigious Hall of Fame of former student-athletes, coaches, and teams.

The 2011 Baseball Team, Tommy Boggs (baseball), Shamika Singleton (women's basketball), and Drew French (baseball), will be the newest members of the Concordia Texas Athletics Hall of Fame.

Drew French will be the second recipient of the Linda Lowery Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes a Concordia alum who has earned success and utilized leadership skills to excel in their chosen profession. The recipient must exemplify, as Linda did, living out their vocation while embracing Concordia's values and mission.

"I am excited to welcome our 2025 Hall of Fame inductee class. Each athlete exhibited excellence throughout their career and represented Concordia Texas will dignity and class. Athletes like these represent the heart and legacy of our program. We honor not only their achievements but their lasting impact." said Ronda Seagraves, vice president of student experience and athletics.

The induction ceremony will be held at the Oasis on Lake Travis on January 25th. The event will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $60 per person, while children under the age of 10 will be $15 each. Seating is limited, and attendees can RSVP for the event here.

The Concordia Texas Athletics Hall of Fame, instituted in 2009, now includes 24 individuals and six teams.

SHAMIKA SINGLETON - WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (2010-12)

Shamika Singleton was a standout basketball player who etched her name into Concordia University's history with an impressive array of accomplishments. Known for her dominance on both ends of the court, Singleton ranks 5th all-time with an average of 8.0 rebounds per game and is tied for 6th all-time with 2.2 steals per game. Her defensive prowess is further showcased by her tie for 7th all-time in blocks, with an average of 0.6 per game.

A consistent offensive threat, Singleton also sits 4th all-time in field goal percentage at 49.0%, demonstrating her efficiency and scoring ability. She is tied for 3rd all-time with 14 career double-doubles and ranks 7th in RPG for a single season with 9.5 rebounds during the 2010-11 campaign. Her 9 double-doubles that same season also placed her 3rd in school history.

In the 2010-11 season, Singleton was recognized as the ASC West Division Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, earning a spot on the West Division First Team. In 2011, she was honored as Concordia Texas Player of the Year, cementing her legacy as one of the program's greatest players.

The 2011 Concordia Texas baseball team was the first team to make the NCAA tournament in the Tommy Boggs era. The Tornados produced a 32-17 (15-6 ASC) record and entered the ASC tournament as the ASC's West Division's two seed. The Tornados dropped the first game of the tournament and then rattled off five straight wins to claim the title. Led by tournament MVP Justin Beasley, his teammates Robert Moore, Colton Gommert, Collin Janssen, Colin Butschek, & Ryan Ullman were also members of the All-Tournament Team.

In their first NCAA Tournament Appearance since 2002, the Tornados entered the tournament as the sixth seed and claimed a pair of wins in the tournament. The 2011 team featured 11 All-Conference selections. Collin Janssen was named the ASC West Player of the Year, Colin Butschek was named the ASC West Pitcher of the Year, and the team finished the season ranked 24th in the final D3baseball.com/NCBWA National Poll.

TOMMY BOGGS

Starting his time at Concordia Texas in 2009, Coach Boggs spearheaded the program for 13 seasons following Coach Mike Gardner. He led the Concordia Tornados to 339 victories, the most wins in the team's history. His achievements include extending the team's post-season play five times with entry into NCAA regional berths, one NCAA Super Regional appearance, three American Southwest Conference Tournament championships (2011, '12, and '13), and three ASC regular season titles in 2014, 2016, and 2018.

In 2012, Boggs and his assistants were named the American Southwest Conference West Division Coaching Staff of the Year after leading CTX to its second straight ASC Tournament crown and NCAA West Regional appearance. The Tornados, who became the first program in school history to make consecutive Division III postseason appearances and were ranked as high as fourth nationally, improved their win total for the third time in as many years by recording 37 wins. The team's 37 victories during the season were the most in the program's Division III era, surpassing the 35 that were recorded by Coach Gardner's team in 2002.

On March 24, 2018, Boggs surpassed his predecessor and became the winningest coach in CTX baseball history in a 7-5 victory over Hardin-Simmons. On Feb. 28, 2020, he earned his 300th coaching win of his career as the Tornados defeated Louisiana College 2-1.

DREW FRENCH

Drew French was a four-year pitcher and earned his business degree at Concordia Texas. He is currently the Pitching Coach for the Baltimore Orioles, known for his innovative and data-driven approach to pitching development.

French's coaching journey began in collegiate baseball, where he served as an assistant coach at several programs, including the University of Alabama, Florida International University, and Lee University.

In 2018, French made the leap to professional baseball, joining the Houston Astros organization as a pitching coordinator. In this role, he focused on minor league pitcher development, using cutting-edge technology and analytics to help players refine their mechanics and optimize performance. His success with the Astros' farm system led to his promotion within the organization, where he contributed to the team's broader pitching strategy.

In 2021, French was hired by the Atlanta Braves as their bullpen coach. His time with the Braves was marked by success, including being part of the coaching staff during the team's 2021 World Series Championship run. French's ability to integrate analytics into traditional pitching strategies helped bolster the Braves' bullpen and earned him widespread recognition as a rising star in MLB coaching circles. Now French is in his first season with the Orioles coaching staff, bringing a wealth of experience from various levels of professional and collegiate baseball.

Now with the Baltimore Orioles, French is focused on continuing his mission of developing one of the best pitching staffs in the league. Known for his collaborative nature and adaptability, French is seen as a key piece of the Orioles' future success.
