Rosen Statement on Second Anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act Being Signed Into Law

Senator Rosen Helped Pass This Historic Law To Lower Costs And Increase Investment In Nevada Industries

RENO, NV - Today, on the second anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act being signed into law, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) issued the following statement on how it is benefitting Nevada. Just yesterday, it was announced that, thanks to this historic legislation she helped pass, Medicare has negotiated lower prices for critical life-saving medications. The Inflation Reduction Act has helped lower prescription drug costs for Nevada seniors, increase clean energy and manufacturing investments, and create thousands of good-paying jobs in Nevada communities.

"I'm proud to see how the Inflation Reduction Act I helped pass is benefitting Nevada two years after it became law," said Senator Rosen. "Thanks to this historic law, we've lowered prescription drug costs, capped insulin prices, and created an unprecedented number of good-paying clean energy and manufacturing jobs for hardworking Nevadans. I'll keep working to lower costs, create jobs, and ensure Nevada has the resources it needs to grow and thrive."

Since the Inflation Reduction Act passed into law, it has:

  • Brought more than $12 billion in investments in clean energy projects like solar and battery manufacturing to Nevada, creating over 15,000 good-paying jobs.
  • Capped insulin copays at $35 per month, potentially saving nearly 11,000 Nevadans on Medicare who rely on it an average of about $439 per year.
  • Allowed Medicare to negotiate prescription drug costs, lowering prices for ten life-saving medications that more than 65,000 Nevada seniors rely on.
  • Limited out-of-pocket costs for seniors on Medicare Part D, which is expected to save $31 million total for around 117,000 Medicare Part D enrollees in Nevada.
  • Extended for three years enhanced ACA tax credits to make health care premiums more affordable for working families.
