Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2023 Fatal Shooting at 7200 West Fuqua Street

June 26, 2024- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 7200 West Fuqua Street about 1:05 p.m. on September 18, 2023.

The suspect, Dandre Trechaun Colbert, 32, is charged with murder in the 268th District Court in Fort Bend County. A booking photo of Colbert is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of Airto Jonte Mills, 33.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:

Officers learned Mr. Mills, driving a gray Mercedes E350, was involved in a crash with a white, 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan near the above address. He was shot multiple times, possibly by multiple suspects, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The unknown suspect(s) reportedly fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Further investigation identified Colbert as a shooter in this incident and he was subsequently charged. On Monday, June 24, members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force arrested Colbert and transported him to the Fort Bend County Jail.

Investigators believe another male and a female may have also been involved in this incident.
