Public Input on Vincent Drive Sidewalk Improvements through November 24

The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (ACCGov) invites residents to provide input on a new sidewalk segment along Vincent Drive between Jefferson River Road and Newton Bridge Road as part of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) 2020 Project 31 - Vincent Drive Sidewalk Project.

Drop-in public meetings are scheduled for November 13 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM at Fire Station #8 (3955 Jefferson Road) and November 16 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Holland Youth Sports Complex (250 Vincent Drive) for neighbors to learn more about the project, ask questions of staff, and provide feedback on three different sidewalk options.

Public input will also be accepted with an online survey available at www.accgov.com/sidewalks through November 24, 2024. The project webpage also contains additional project information and a map of the three sidewalk options.

The options include:

  • Option 1: Starting at the Newton Bridge Road intersection (where Hope Haven is located) - Sidewalk would be built on the north side of Vincent Drive, connecting the sidewalk to the Holland Sports Youth Complex and continuing towards the neighborhoods as far as funding allows; likely Chesterton Way or Winery Way.
  • Option 2: Starting at the Holland Youth Sports Complex - Sidewalk would be built on the north side of Vincent Drive heading west as far as funding allows; likely Linnea Way or Vineyard Drive.
  • Option 3: Starting at Jefferson River Road - Sidewalk would be built on the north side of Vincent Drive heading east as far as funding allows; likely Vineyard Drive.

Approximately $1,877,000 has been designated for the Vincent Drive Sidewalk Improvements Project through SPLOST funds. This funding includes design, right-of-way acquisition, construction of a sidewalk with ADA compliant elements, installation of pedestrian safety devices, pedestrian signs, and other safety equipment.
