Final Exercise of 10th Edition of ‘Mitra Shakti’ Ends in Maduru Oya

The final demonstration of the joint Exercise 'Mitra Shakti X,' which ushers in revitalised bonds of friendly goodwill and strong cooperation between the Sri Lanka Army and the Indian Army, took place on 23 August 2024 in the presence of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, at the Maduru Oya Army Training School (ATS) grounds.

This exercise, designed to strengthen the bonds of goodwill and cooperation between the Sri Lanka Army and the Indian Army, showcased the culmination of extensive theoretical and practical training focused on counter-terrorism. Additionally, Exercise 'Mitra Shakti' plays a significant role in enhancing operational capabilities and interoperability between the participating Nations. Through this joint training, the exercise fosters mutual understanding and strengthens the ability to conduct coordinated operations in diverse scenarios, ranging from conventional warfare to counter-terrorism. The collaboration during exercise also allows for the exchange of tactical knowledge, strategic insights, and best practices, thereby improving the readiness and adaptability of the forces involved, and reinforcing military diplomacy and fostering stronger defense ties.

The Indian Army contingent, led by Colonel Ravinda Ahlawat, participated in the exercise, which also included cultural and sports events aimed at fostering camaraderie and mutual understanding among the troops.

The State Minister of Defence, Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, Indian High Commissioner, HE Santosh Jha, Major General U.K.D.D.P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc - Director of the Exercise 'Mitra Shakti X', Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks from both Armies witnessed the final demonstration.

During the event, the Commander of the Army presented mementoes to the State Minister of Defence and Indian High Commissioner as tokens of appreciation. The event concluded with an exhibition of military equipment used during the exercise, providing a comprehensive overview of this collaboration's outcomes.
