City of Fayetteville launches aquatics feasibility study
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The City of Fayetteville has begun the process of carrying out a feasibility study to analyze the community's needs and desires related to aquatics facilities.
Following recommendations from the City's 2023 Park and Recreation System Master Plan to explore opportunities for new or updated aquatic facilities, the City will launch initial public engagement throughout August. Fayetteville residents will have opportunities to provide feedback and share their opinions in person at several community events, as well as through the City's online engagement portal, Speak Up Fayetteville.
Wilson Park Pool is the only City managed swimming pool. Once a creek and swimming hole, the site was developed into a public pool nearly 100 years ago and is nearing the end of its useful life to meet the needs of Fayetteville's growing population.
"This study will guide the future of aquatics in Fayetteville, aiming to bring modern facilities and features that better serve the entire community," said Alison Jumper, director of Parks, Natural Resources and Cultural Affairs.
In May, Fayetteville City Council approved an agreement with Water Technology Inc. to develop and help carry out the study, which will be based on extensive public input, market analysis and aquatics trends.
Throughout the month of August, signage will be posted at the following locations and events with a QR code that directs to the Speak Up Fayetteville survey:
Also, City staff will be on hand to gather feedback at the following community events:
