Construction Continues on Route 41, Route 926 Roundabout Safety Improvement Project in Londonderry Township, Chester County

08/22/2024

King of Prussia, PA- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction continues on the Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) and Route 926 (Street Road) $6.3 million roundabout safety improvement project in Londonderry Township, Chester County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this contract, PennDOT's contractor will construct a single-lane, four-legged roundabout slightly south of the existing intersection alignment to improve safety, increase mobility, and accommodate future traffic demands.

Due to the nature of the roundabout construction, existing pavement at the current intersection will be removed. Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) will be reconstructed and resurfaced for approximately 1,900 feet and Route 926 (Street Road) will be realigned for approximately 1,400 feet. The agricultural land to the west of the roundabout, between the existing and relocated portions of Route 926 (Street Road), will be used for stormwater management. To the east of the roundabout, the existing Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) will be vacated and replaced with a proposed wetland mitigation area.

J. D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, PA, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.

This roundabout project is part of several improvement projects planned on Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) in Londonderry and London Grove townships and Avondale Borough, Chester County. For more information on the Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) and Route 926 (Street Road) roundabout project and other projects planned for Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike), please visit the Route 41 project website.
