2024 Thanksgiving Holiday Service Changes - Trash, Recycling, Recreation, HHS and More

The City of Frederick offices will be closed to observe Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29, 2024. Some service schedules will change.

Trash Collection

Residential:

  • There will be no trash collection service on Thursday , November 28, 2024.
  • If you normally set out your household trash on Wednesday evening for Thursday collection, please set your trash out on Thursday evening for Friday collection.
  • If you normally set your household trash out on Thursday evening for Friday collection, please set your trash out on Sunday evening for Monday collection.
  • Do NOT set yard waste out for collection.
  • All other trash routes are as scheduled.

Yard Waste Collection

Residential:

There will be NO yard waste collection for NAC8 on Thursday, November 28, 2024, or NAC's 1 and 5 on Friday, November 29, 2024.

  • NAC 8 yard waste collection will resume on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
  • NAC 1 and NAC 5 yard waste collection will resume on Friday, December 6, 2024.

Business District:

  • Commercial Downtown Business trashwill be collected on the normal schedule.

Recycling

  • Commercial Business Recycling Service ( not residential ): Recycling will not be collected on Friday, November 29, 2024 . It will return to the normal schedule on Monday, December 2, 2024.

Recreation

The Talley Fitness Center will be closed on Thursday, November 83, 2024, and Friday, November 29, 2024.

Housing and Human Services

The Department of Housing and Human Services will be closed on Thursday, November 28,and Friday, November 29. The Community Table will be open per its normal schedule. The Food Banks will be closed.

Parking

Thanksgiving Day marks the start of free holiday parking. Free holiday parking includes Frosty Friday (the Friday after Thanksgiving) and the entireweekend. After Thanksgiving weekend, every weekend from 8 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday through New Year's Day, parking is free at meters and in parking decks.
