Brewster Receives Appreciation Award from Statewide FOP

Bethlehem, PA, July 16, 2024 - State Sen. Jim Brewster received the Appreciation Award from the Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police at a ceremony in Northampton County yesterday, the group announced.

Senator Brewster has been a great friend and supporter of law enforcement in PA for many years with his local police officers in McKeesport as mayor and state senator for 14 years in the senate," said Joseph Regan, president of the Pennsylvania FOP. "Jim is always the voice of reason and the best example of someone who can work effectively in a bi-partisan way with all."

Brewster, a former Mayor of McKeesport who will retire from the Senate in November, said he has sought to bring greater understanding to his colleagues in Harrisburg about the dangers and complications facing the officers that protect Pennsylvania communities.

"It is a tremendously difficult job and far more complicated and demanding than many people recognize. They face citizens at the absolute worst moments of their lives and they're expected to make life-altering decisions in split seconds," Brewster said. "I have been proud to support the FOP in their mission to foster better understanding of the job and the people who do it."

The Pennsylvania State F.O.P. represents more than 40,000 officers in 106 lodges across the state. Brewster received the award at the group's biennial conference in Bethlehem.

"Law enforcement is losing a great friend this year with the retirement of Senator Brewster," Regan said. "A constant supporter of law enforcement and all first responders. Someone who genuinely cares for the well-being of all our members and their families."
