On 10 December 2024, the Commission hosted an online roundtable with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to discuss the recently published risk assessment reports of the providers of the first designated 19 very large online platforms (VLOPs) and search engines (VLOSEs) under the Digital Services Act (DSA).
During the meeting, the Commission gave an update on its DSA implementation activities, including the stepping up of the monitoring of TikTok in relation to the Romanian elections, the public consultation on the draft delegated act on access to online platform data for vetted researchers, ongoing work in relation to the protection of minors including on the guidelines on protection of minors and the Commission's ongoing enforcement activities.
Participants provided observations and their first impressions of the risk assessment reports. CSOs focused on the methodologies, scope and data used in the published risk assessment reports in their feedback. Additionally, CSOs highlighted the importance of VLOPs and VLOSEs engaging with relevant stakeholders with specific expertise in conducting the risk assessment reports.
The Commission intends to organise workshops with providers of the designated services, the national Digital Services Coordinators, civil society organisations and other stakeholders at the beginning of 2025 so that providers can present their published assessments and hear other stakeholders' feedback.
The Commission had previously issued Questions & Answers about the reports and publication obligations.
