VMware Cloud Foundation 9 Will Empower Customers to Build, Deploy and Operate the Private Cloud With Ease

New VMware Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA, VMware Tanzu Platform, and VMware Software-Defined Edge Capabilities will Accelerate Enterprise AI Innovation

LAS VEGAS-VMware Explore 2024-Today at VMware Explore 2024 Las Vegas, Broadcom Inc. announced new and enhanced solutions designed to help customers accelerate innovation using the power of private cloud, underpinned by a private-AI approach and fueled by private data.

Organizations today face three fundamental infrastructure challenges that present roadblocks to innovation and growth. First, organizations realize they can no longer rely on inefficient data center architectures still largely rooted in individual domains of technology such as compute, storage, networking, and management. Second, the native public cloud alternative is beset with its own fundamental challenges around cost, complexity, and compliance, and many mission-critical enterprise applications have proven difficult or impossible to make work cost-effectively in the native public cloud. Finally, Generative AI (GenAI) holds a promise of immense benefits but comes with potential risks surrounding security, data privacy, intellectual property leakage, reputation, and regulatory compliance that must be addressed from the outset.

To break the infrastructure silos, reclaim control of public cloud sprawl, and capture the opportunity for AI in the enterprise, organizations must shift from best-of-breed siloed architectures to a modern private cloud platform.

A Private Cloud For All - Cloud Admins, DevOps, Platform Engineers and Developers

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) is the industry's first private cloud platform to deliver public cloud scale and agility with private cloud security, resilience and performance, and low overall total cost of ownership. Today, Broadcom announced the future of private cloud architecture with the introduction of VMware Cloud Foundation 9, which will empower customers to:

  • Modernize their infrastructure with new capabilities that enable their infrastructure to operate as a single unified and automated system, helping customers keep pace with modern app requirements, and bring the advanced VMware capabilities they already have from Broadcom into their private cloud platform.
  • Deploy any application without friction through easy-to-consume infrastructure services that enable developers and application owners to deploy any application (VM or containerized), while accelerating adoption of VMware Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA.
  • Enable uninterrupted operations and more cyber resilience with fleet-level operations and centralized security and compliance management to deliver uninterrupted operations and more proactive risk mitigation. The introduction of Project Cypress will deliver GenAI-based intelligent assistance to help IT security teams proactively triage sophisticated threat campaigns and recommend remediation options. Empowering Accelerated Innovation with New Enterprise AI Capabilities

As enterprises aim to accelerate their pace of innovation with AI capabilities, they're encountering complex challenges like siloed IT architectures, increased costs, and more security attacks. Broadcom's latest offerings provide trusted solutions so that customers can tackle these challenges with a modernized approach. New functionality to the VMware Tanzu Platform, VMware Software-Defined Edge portfolio, and VMware Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA will empower customers to:

  • Build safe, scalable, and secure GenAI applications with the introduction of VMware Tanzu AI Solutions, a new set of capabilities integrated into the Tanzu Platform will help application teams deliver GenAI-powered, intelligent applications quickly, safely, and at scale. This includes the availability of Spring AI, an open source application framework that can be used by Java developers to build GenAI-powered features into applications, and GenAI observability and monitoring to address accuracy and performance with root cause analysis for apps and large language models (LLMs).
  • Accelerate Edge AI workload adoption with new and enhanced connectivity, deployment, and lifecycle management capabilities within the Software-Defined Edge portfolio that allow customers to enable their edge AI readiness. This includes support for Fixed Wireless Access and satellite connections in VMware VeloCloud Edge to deliver critical, blended connectivity for OT devices as well as AI and non-AI edge workloads; the integration of VeloCloud and Symantec points of presence (PoPs) within VMware VeloCloud SASE, secured by Symantec; and the delivery of critical capabilities to efficiently manage infrastructure and applications, including Edge AI apps and workloads such as Small Language Models (SLMs) at dispersed sites, within VMware Edge Compute Stack. Read the VMware Software-Defined Edge release here.
  • Enable greater governance, security, and data privacy with VMware Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA, whichwill deliver a new model store that will allow ML Ops teams and data scientists to curate and provide more secure LLMs with integrated role-based access control. Additionally, new guided deployment capabilities will automate workload domain creation workflow and other infrastructure components of the solution. This will accelerate deployment speed and a further reduction in administrative tasks resulting in a faster time to value. Read the post.
