Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Undersecretary Tripodi meets government authorities, entrepreneurs and members of the Italian community in Chile

Italian Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, has been on a mission to Chile since yesterday, following her participation in the G20 summit in Brasilia. Close bilateral ties and further prospects for cooperation are at the heart of the agenda.

The Undersecretary held fruitful bilateral talks with her counterpart in Foreign Affairs, Gloria De la Fuente, and with Undersecretary for Justice, Maria Ester Torres Hidalgo. In addition to political and trade relations, the topics discussed included cooperation in the cultural, scientific, university and legal diplomacy spheres. The excellent cooperation between the two countries in the fight against organised crime, thanks to the Falcone-Borsellino Programme, and between the Carabinieri and the Carabineros de Chile in various sectors, including training, were also discussed.

The Undersecretary was later received by the President of the Chilean Constitutional Court, Daniela Marzi Muñoz. Moreover, as part of the growth diplomacy promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in support of Italian companies, Tripodi inaugurated the "Invest in Chile" seminar, as organised by the Embassy and Chamber of Commerce. On the sidelines, she had a working lunch with representatives of the Italian-Chilean business world and the Italian community.

"I am particularly satisfied with this intense mission," said the Undersecretary before leaving for Asunción in Paraguay. "Chile is a very important regional player steeped in Italian-ness at every level. We are heading towards the next bilateral political consultations, scheduled for the first half of 2025, in a climate of renewed momentum that will prove fruitful in the future."
