Tampa, FL. (October 28, 2024) - - At 6:57 am Monday morning, Tampa Police responded to a serious traffic crash involving a pedestrian near the intersection of W. Hillsborough Ave. and N. Lois Ave.
Officers arrived to find an Hispanic male in his mid-50s with critical injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he unfortunately died due to his injuries. Next of kin notification is pending.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was crossing the street, southbound, outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a white Ford F350 turning eastbound onto Hillsborough Ave. The driver of the F350 remained on the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The eastbound lanes of W. Hillsborough Ave. were temporarily closed to allow for the investigation. All roadways have since reopened to traffic.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash, and no criminal charges are anticipated. Updates can be provided as the investigation allows.
