Chairman Green Statement on August Border Numbers

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) released the following statement after publication of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) border encounter numbers for August 2024. In July of 2024, total nationwide encounters under the Biden-Harris administration officially surpassed 10 million, not including the roughly two million known gotaways:

"President Biden and Vice President Harris' border crisis is raging on as their mass-parole schemes continue to incentivize an influx at our ports of entry. These schemes only serve to hide the crisis in plain sight and increase the number of inadmissible aliens who are released into our communities with insufficient vetting and screening. The American people deserve an end to this crisis. Unfortunately, the Biden-Harris administration cares more about optics than Americans' safety, or the rule of law."
