Women United Global Leadership Council Announces New Members

ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA (July 2, 2024) - United Way Worldwide announced today the appointment of four new members to the Women United Global Leadership Council, an advisory body dedicated to advancing opportunities for women in nearly 200 communities across the globe.

The following women will serve an initial three-year term:

"We are excited to welcome these inspiring new members to the Council who are committed to United Way's efforts to build stronger, more equitable communities across the globe," said Angela F. Williams, President and CEO of United Way Worldwide. "Through Women United®, we are using our robust network and our convening power, to foster unity, create connections, and accelerate solutions both locally and globally."

Women United represents over 50,000 members working with United Way in communities worldwide. The new members underwent a rigorous nominations process and were selected by the Council for their experience, commitment to Women United, and proven investment in United Way's mission.

The Council serves as an advisory body providing strategic recommendations to United Way Worldwide as well as a key mobilizer engaging leaders to advance gender equity and advocate for access to quality, affordable, educational childcare. The group also supports the growth of Women United globally.

"Our new members will enhance the Council's mission to fight for gender equity," said Cathy McRae, Chair of the Women United Global Leadership Council. "As women uniting for good, we will be working with the Women United membership and nonprofit partners to mobilize support and advocate for our signature issue of early childcare and education."

Women United members fuel impact work in their communities through their United Ways, including donating, volunteering and advocating for efforts to strengthen community resilience and advance health, youth opportunity, and financial security so all can thrive.
