Loading and unloading vehicles in the center turn lane is dangerous, causes many problems, and is against the law. Murfreesboro City Ordinance 32-1302 states: "No personal shall stop, park or leave standing any vehicle upon any street or highway, whether attended or unattended."

The Murfreesboro Police Department receives many calls regarding this issue but many times when officers arrive the driver has left.

Not only is blocking the turn lane against the law, but the chances of a vehicle or person being struck loading or unloading is increased. Also, the vehicle loading or unloading can block of the view of drivers trying to exit or enter the property.

All loading or unloading must be done on the business property.

The Murfreesboro Police Department and the City Transportation Department partner with CityTV to visually demonstrate traffic issues and provide advice to the motoring public.
