Competition Heats Up This July as Knockout Outdoor Boxing Showcases Featuring Park District Athletes Continue

4th Annual Girls & Women Showcase hits Wicker Park, Daley Plaza Hosts Bouts Under The "The Picasso," and more!

CHICAGO- The Chicago Park District boxing program is proud to elevate athletes' talent and sportsmanship at free, outdoor showcases throughout public parks each year from May to October. Throughout the boxing showcase series, Chicago Park District staff assemble a ring at iconic park locations, and coaches officiate as many as 10 bouts in a night. Throughout July, unique showcases will take place at Wicker Park, Daley Plaza, Garfield Park, and Trumbull Park.

• July 17, 2024 | 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. | Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington St.
• July 18, 2024 | 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. | Garfield Park, 100 N. Central Park Ave.
• July 25, 2024, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. | Trumbull Park, 2400 E. 105th St.

A total of 15 boxing showcases are left for the 2024 series. Boxers receive instruction and training in one of 22 boxing gyms throughout the city. People of all ages are eligible to participate in boxing programs, however these showcases feature athletes ages 8 to 25. Boxing instruction for athletes ages 21 and under is free, and for those that are older, a nominal registration fee is due at the point of registration. Boxing instruction takes place year round, and patrons of all experience levels are welcome to register for instruction periods with vacancies.
