On November 9, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., North District General Patrol officers responded to a report of a robbery which occurred at an apartment complex in the 200 block of Dufferin Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located a 61-year old female victim in her suite, who was suffering from multiple lacerations and injuries to her upper body. Officers provided the victim with emergency medical care before she was transported to hospital in stable condition.

The investigation revealed the suspect attended to the victim's residence to confront her over a dispute over property. This dispute escalated with the suspect assaulting the victim in the upper body with a heavy metal object and a small edged weapon before fleeing the area with the victim's cell phone.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers located the suspect in a common area of a hotel located in the 500 block of Main Street, where she was subsequently arrested without incident.

The suspect and victim are previously known to one another.

The Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation.

A 60-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of a Weapon x 2

She was detained in custody.
