Brutal Attack on Elderly Victim, Suspect Arrested

On Sunday, July 14^th, at approximately 1733 hours, the Marin County Sheriff's Office received a report that an in-home medical caretaker had brutally attacked his elderly patient and her adult daughter, before fleeing the residence. The suspect, identified as Yumi Zingkhai (23 yr old male, Rohnert Park) was the paid, caretaker for an elderly female patient who suffers from memory related issues, and is unable to care for herself or make any decisions on her own behalf.

The adult daughter of the patient arrived at the residence and witnessed Zingkhai sexually raping the elderly patient. When the adult daughter yelled at Zinghkai to stop, he grabbed the daughter her by the throat and choked her until she lost consciousness. He drug her unconscious body to the kitchen, where she woke, and Zinghkai held her at knife point, threatening to kill her if she called the police.

After nearly two hours being held captive and her life threatened, she was able to convince Zinghkai to leave the home, and handle personal matters he mentioned were important to him. Zingkhai left the victims residence, allowing the adult daughter to call 911.

Zingkhai ultimately went home and told his girlfriend he was suicidal, but needed to return to his employers home (victim residence). Zingkhai's girlfriend accompanied him in the vehicle, while she attempted to call 911, concerned about his suicidal statements. Zinghkai took her phone, and began to batter her, while they drove. Zingkhai struck his girlfriend multiple times while in the vehicle.

While deputies and detectives were on scene at the victim residence, investigating the incident, Zinghkai arrived outside, saw law enforcement and attempted to flee. Zingkhai pushed his girlfriend from the moving vehicle, who was able to escape without further injuries. Zinghaki was apprehended by patrol officers as he attempted to flee the scene.

Zinghkai was arrested for a multitude of charges, including, 261(A) (1) PC Rape, 664 187 PC Attempted Murder, 386 (B)(1) PC Elder Abuse Against Dependent Adult, 207 PC Kidnapping, 288 (C) (2) PC Lewd and Lascivious Act by Caretaker on Dependent Adult, 243 (D) Battery with Serious Bodily Injury, 211 PC Robbery, 236 PC False Imprisonment, 136.1(A) PC Dissuading a Witness, 135 PC Destroying Evidence, 417(A)(1) PC Displaying/Brandishing a Weapon, 273.5 PC Domestic Violence, 591.5 PC Damage to Victims Phone Attempting to call 911, and is currently being held, without bail, pending arraignment.
