The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published a report following an inspection of Cheswold Park Hospital, Doncaster in May and June.
Cheswold Park Hospital was an independent adult secure mental health hospital that provided accommodation for adults with mental health issues, run by Riverside Healthcare Limited. Since the inspection took place the hospital has become an NHS hospital after being taken over by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in October this year. The inspection was carried out prior to the transfer to the NHS, to check on concerns found at the previous inspection around the care and treatment being provided to people, and concerns around the service's leave policy due to people not always being able to take leave from the hospital.
Following the inspection the service has been removed from special measures but has retained its previous rating of inadequate overall as not enough areas were looked at to change the rating. Safe and responsive have gone up from inadequate to requires improvement and caring, effective and well-led have retained the previous ratings of inadequate.
