GVSU is only Michigan institution to be named a 2024 Top Green College by Princeton Review

Grand Valley has once again been named a top environmentally responsible university in the country, according to The Princeton Review's list of Top 50 Green Colleges . GVSU is ranked #27 and is the only Michigan university listed in 2024.

The list is part of the Princeton Review's 2025 Guide to Green Colleges . It was created through a combination of school-reported data and student opinion, according to the Review, and aims to showcase schools with a variety of sustainable practices both on campus and in their curriculum.

"It's such an honor to be recognized by the Princeton Review," said Yumiko Jakobcic, director of sustainability. "We know that our students value sustainability and this recognition is a testament to all of the incredible people across the campuses who are invested in making GVSU a more sustainable place."

This fall semester, the Office of Sustainability hosted a variety of Sustainability Month events, and has organized efforts such as zero-waste football games, which aim to decrease the amount of landfill waste created at Lubbers Stadium. The effort was only possible thanks to volunteering student organizations, said Jakobcic, and is a prime example of students' commitment to making Grand Valley a greener college.
