Trevecca's Counseling Center recently hosted the first session in a series of mental health first aid training opportunities throughout the summer. Open to faculty, staff and students, the training is intended to equip the Trevecca community to address urgent mental health needs with compassion and skill.

The training is offered through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing and teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. In addition to recognizing symptoms, the sessions address questions such as how to interact with a person in crisis, how to connect them with helpful services and how to navigate trauma and self-care.

This opportunity contributes to the mission of the Trevecca Counseling Center, which is to be a welcoming community that provides a safe place for students to find deep connection and holistic well being and to integrate healing into their daily lives.
