Forbes selects Vanderbilt University as one of Tennessee’s Best Employers for 2024

For the fourth consecutive year, Vanderbilt University has been recognized by Forbesmagazine as one of the "Best Employers in Tennessee."

Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to compile its annual list of America's Best Employers by State. Data for the lists in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., was gathered by surveying 160,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees. The respondents were asked to rate their employers on a variety of criteria, including employee satisfaction, competitiveness of compensation and opportunities for advancement.

"This acknowledgment reflects the dedication and commitment of Vanderbilt to fostering an environment where every employee feels valued, supported and empowered to grow," said Cleo Rucker, associate vice chancellor and chief people experience officer. "We are proud to be one of the top employers in Tennessee and will continue to invest in the development and well-being of our people, who are at the heart of everything we do."

According to a new survey from Robert Half, a growing number of workers are content to remain in their current jobs, with only about 35 percent of workers planning to look for a new job in the second half of 2024. That's down from 49 percent during the same period last year.  However, the report found that less than 50 percent of workers think their employer invests in the skills they need to advance, an aspect of the employee journey that Vanderbilt's Division of People, Culture and Belonging strongly values and devotes resources to.

Recent Vanderbilt initiatives to enhance professional growth and belonging include:

• Launching the Futures Learning Hub, a state-of-the-art blend of digital and physical spaces aimed at enhancing professional, leadership, technical and compliance skills
